Shiatsu is a Japanese word (shi meaning finger and atsu meaning pressure). Which uses localized finger pressure in a rhythmic sequence on acupuncture meridians. Chinese call Acupressure (or Tui-na). That is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) technique derived from acupuncture. It is based on the concept of life energy which flows through “meridians” in the body. In treatment, physical pressure is applied to acupuncture points with the aim of clearing blockages and improve the flow of Qi (our vital energy) in these meridians. With acupressure physical pressure is applied to acupuncture points by the thumb, elbow or with various devices. Each point is held for seconds to improve the flow of energy and help the body regain balance. It is relaxing even the pressure is firm, and there is usually no soreness afterwards.

Shiatsu / Acupressure is used for treating a variety of disorders. These include asthma, arthritis, menstrual problems, sinusitis, depression, post operative recovery, chronic fatigue syndrome, insomnia, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety, and hypertension. It works to set the whole body in balance, so that it works to function better as a whole. Regular treatments result in an improvement in overall physical and mental health.
